Dua tahun lalu, NIKI merilis “Oceans & Engines” yang dinobatkan sebagai lagu kebangsaan patah hati oleh banyak orang. Seperti apa lirik dan makna dari lagu tersebut?
“Oceans & Engines” merupakan bagian dari album kedua NIKI bertajuk Nicole yang rilis pada 12 Agustus 2022. Namun, NIKI sebenarnya sudah menulis lagu ini sejak usianya 17 tahun, tepatnya pada 2016.
Lagu ini terinspirasi dari pengalaman patah hati pertama NIKI yang dialaminya ketika duduk di bangku kelas dua SMA.
Lirik “Oceans & Engines” menggambarkan rasa sakit dan kesepian karena harus berpisah dengan kekasih hati meski keduanya masih saling mencintai.
Meski berat, perpisahan itu memang tak bisa dicegah. Sebab, tidak ada masa depan pada hubungan jarak jauh yang mereka jalani.
Sang protagonis dalam lagu “Oceans & Engines” pun harus merelakan kepergian sang kekasih sekaligus kenangan indah yang pernah dilalui bersama. Demikianlah, lagu ini menjadi persembahan terakhir sekaligus sebagai ucapan selamat tinggal.
